Our Community

The hamlet of East Islip is a wonderful place to live and work.  Unlike our neighboring towns, many businesses here do not thrive because of foot traffic and window shoppers. People use these businesses not out of convenience, but because of their dedicated support and the connections within the community.

Our Chamber

The East Islip Community Chamber was built with that “community” concept at our core. We work tirelessly to beautify the neighborhood, hold events that strengthen our relationships and help those who need it most.  Together, we will continue to advance the connection between business owners and the community.

Our Mission

Our mission is to build a community to which residents, visitors and investors are attracted; Promoting that community, Striving to ensure future prosperity via a pro-business climate; Representing the unified voice of the employer community; and Reducing transactional friction through well-functioning networks.

East Islip Fun Facts

Did You Know…

East Islip, as well as many hamlets along Long Island’s south shore, was once an enclave for some of the nation’s wealthiest families. Its estates at one time included the Hollins, Gulden, and Knapp estates, among others. Originally an estate mansion, Brookwood Hall was passed from its last private owners, the Thorne family, and now serves as a municipal building for the Town of Islip.

I live in East Islip off of Main Street on Third Avenue. It is between Irish Lane and Carlton Avenue. There is a black and white tuxedo cat with a blue collar that has been coming here off and on for months. Well now he won't leave, He sleeps on the roof of my garage, I can't take him in because I have a cat that I rescued 2 years ago, who is a bully and haunts my other cat. I can't bring another cat inside. I have 4 cats that I rescued about 5 years ago, I had them all fixed and they got their shots. The only reason I let them back outside after they were fixed is because the were, and still after 5 years are afraid of me. I can only pet one, however I have my garage set up for them with couches and self heating pads for the winter There is a rug on the ground to keep them warm, and I have a vacuum out there to keep it clean. They love it. But now this beautiful black and white tuxedo cat goes in there sometimes and my 4 cats won't go in. They are my babies, and I have to get rid of this cat. He is sweet and friendly but he must go. I need someone either to adopt him or foster him or her for 1 month. She has been fixed, her ear is clipped. Please someone help. I believe whoever got her fixed did it like I did, I didn't want. Please someone help. if you know of this cat or would be willing to foster it for 1 month, please post it on the post. If you could foster for one month, I would be able to get her in a cat cafe in Huntington, where she or he would be loved and well taken care of until she is adopted., Thank you so much.
